i think electric cars are an example of how a different approach can make for a significantly better product similar to how full screen iphone was a significantly better than smartphones at the time

• better safety
  • lower center of gravity - harder for the car to roll over
  • no engine - nothing is pushed into the cabin during front impact
• no need to deal with petrol (smell / washing hands)
• no engine noise
• allows to keep ac on for extended periods of time (while buying groceries / when camping)
• front truck gives additional room
• acceleration
• no tunnel shaft
• less moving parts - higher reliability
• can be charged even if you live in a quite remote area
• in theory can be charged anywhere you park - no need to go to a dedicated place (gas station)
• it is basically an appliance / computer on wheels
